Viomak releases rape song as she works on releasing Child abuse album

LEADING protest musician cum political and human rights activist, Viomak, is set to release an album denouncing child abuse and molestation in Zimbabwe.

The fearless female artist, who has set tongues wagging among bitterness driven Zanu PF and MDC supporters amid news she intends to contest for President in the near future under the Zimbabwe Development Leaders (ZDL) party ticket has already released a single of the forthcoming album, entitled Child Abuse called Kubata Mwana Chibharo.

This delivery proves to those who have followed the artist's musical journey with keen interest, that she has come of age. Known for trademark hard- hitting and trenchant political salvos against mostly President Robert Mugabe's rule and corrupt politicians, the talented and diversified musician equally scores well, with compelling social commentary compositions on this one.

Kubatana Mwana Chibharo demonstrates the new level of creativity and maturity in Viomak's work. The song has captivating background screams of pain from rape victims, and is fused with mesmerising afro-beat drums, percussion and is blended with synchronised guitar excellence.

The album comes on the backcloth of calls by advocacy group, Aids-Free World to have the International Criminal Court (ICC) probe alleged crimes against humanity by Mugabe's dreaded youth militia, who launched a brutal rape campaign crusade during the bloody 2008 elections.

A legal dossier will soon be handed to the ICC in The Hague, in the fervent hope that the court's prosecutor can launch proceedings for crimes against humanity, againist the fingured culprits.

Rape has been used by Zanu PF as a tool of oppression and fear mongering among the rural electorate, human rights campaigners have said.

Ironically there were reports in the international media last week, that Mugabe's own daughther, Bona who uses the assumed name of Tracy Guvamombe was raped in Singapore. Bona, is said to have since filed for sexual assault charges against two Tanzanian students studying with her, after they allegedly took turns to copulate with her against her will. Bona was drunk and taken advantage of at the upmarket Faber Park neighbourhood, in Singapore.

Some have taken the news, to be a taste of Mugabe's own medicine but the reality is that rape can happen to anyone, and in most cases it is young boys and girls who are at the receiving end.

Child abuse, has become common place in Zimbabwe, with many engaging in it for ritual purposes, such as enriching themselves or attempting to cure themselves from the deadly HIV/Aids pandemic.

Viomak castigates prophets and pastors who hide behind the cloth, and go on to commit the deplorable act of rape, asking them if they feel right in their conscience after raping.

"Child Abuse is an 8-track album and will be released in solidarity with rape victims, all people against child rape and all organisations that work with child sexual abuse, said Viomak. Songs will be used as campaign music against child rape“.
