According to the ZCTU information officer, Khumbulani Ndlovu, the ZCTU boss was arrested alongside two union officials comprising Michael Kandukutu and Percy Mcijo. There were no clear charges laid against the trio by the time of going to press but close sources claim the government was on a political witch-hunt against labour body and opposition activists.
"They were later transferred to Hwange police station. The ZCTU President was on a tour of the country meeting ZCTU structures and the Victoria Falls meeting was the first meeting of his tour," said Ndlovu in the press release on Monday.
Effort to get comment from the Hwange police to clarify what charges were being laid against the trio proved fruitless as they kept saying the right authorities to respond to the media questions were yet to report for duty.
